Everyone knows that the experts go back and forth on whether a glass of wine a day is good for you or not, but what about the antioxidant properties of grapes before they’re in the bottle?  Let’s take a look at 5 facts about grapes!

1) they contain Reservatrol, which is a phytonutrient that may help us with healthy aging by protecting our genes and their ability to express themselves properly for longer.

2) Grapes are a low GI food, making them ideal for those suffering from Diabetes or blood sugar issues.  (They are also, like all fruits, Gluten-Free!)

3) Red Grapes contain almost a 3rd per cup of your daily needs for manganese as well as smaller amounts of Vitamin K, C, B1, B6 and Potassium.

4) Grapes also naturally contain melatonin, which is a crucial chemical for sleep, hormone, and mood regulation.

5) Commercially grown grapes are known to contain one of the highest pesticide levels of any fruit.  You should always opt for organic grapes when possible, and if they’re not available, I advise you to choose a different fruit that is less susceptible to pesticide like cantaloupe, grapefruit or kiwi.  For more info, either google “the dirty dozen” or look at this link.
