Are you a fan of eating wild? British Columbia and the western states have many interesting wild dining options, from cancer fighting dandelion roots to immune boosting chaga fungi. However, if you’re not that inclined to eat something that many still consider a weed, or a fungi that many have never heard of, you might like to munch on some delicious baby ferns.

Fiddleheads are rich in Vitamins A and C, and also a great source of Macronutrients.  Fiddleheads are a delicious alternative to something like brussel sprouts, and Vancouver chef Chris Whittaker of Forage serves them up with bacon.  Check out the food network for 10 more delicious ways to enjoy this tender seasonal treat.

Fiddleheads can be found seasonally in many grocery stores, but if you prefer to venture into the wild, be sure you know what to look for so you don’t end up with a type that may be harmful.
