    When I reach my ‘I’m going to runaway-stage’ I call off the whole
    thing–cancel all my lists and the next day (or many hours later) I pare down. I have found the greatest relief comes when in all sincerity I cancel the entire holiday. Then (and only when) my feet are on the ground again and I remember the reason for the season, I begin again to find my way to Christmas.
