Digital Photography: Behind the Lens: Using a Wacom Tablet

The better technology gets, the more we can use it to create images that would not have existed 50 years ago.  Everyone knows we make movies that are purely digital drawings now, and there are many ways that you create imaginary scenes with computer technology, whether it’s adding digital sunglasses to your instagram photos, or just touching something up in photoshop.

I like to use my Wacom tablet for creating scenes that I imagine, like energy beams, or data streams, like the three examples below.  Some elements in these were photographed, and then some elements were sketched in using my Wacom tablet afterwards.

Are you scratching your head, “What’s a Wacom Tablet?”

Essentially, it’s like having a pen and paper that are hooked up to your computer that you can use to draw.  Here’s a link to tell you more.

So what can you do with a wacom?  Pretty much anything you like.  But let’s start with the basics.  Here I am going to refer you to this quick video to set you up with the basics.

Was this helpful for anyone looking for information about sketching using a computer?  Let me know in the comments.
